Spotlight on Marvin Klemes, M.D.

June 14, 2010

klemes_150.jpgThis spotlight article on our associate psychiatrist Marvin Klemes, M.D. gives us a glimpse into his life on the high seas.

Dr. Marvin Klemes has been around the block....and across several oceans, to say the least.

As a lieutenant in the US Naval Reserve, Dr. Klemes served 6 years of active duty. During that time, he spent 14 months as a ship's doctor, stopping at exotic ports including Manila, Singapore and Ras Tanura in the Persian Gulf of Saudi Arabia. When on dry land, he served in naval hospitals. As you can imagine, he has seen it all. Despite that, when his active duty was over, Dr. Klemes chose to remain in the Naval reserve for 12 more years; he retired as a lieutenant commander.

Santa_Rosa__150.jpgDr. Klemes also worked as a ship's doctor for the Grace Line. The Grace Lines fleet sailed from US ports to South America and the Caribbean until 1970. His routes went from New York through the Panama Canal, down the west coast of South America to Chile, or went directly to the north coast to Columbia and Venezuela.

His wanderlust was not quenched when his time as a ship's doctor came to an end. Since those days, Dr. Klemes has traveled to most of Western Europe, Egypt, Australia, China and Japan.

Doctor Klemes' professional biography can be viewed on the "Our Doctors" page of our website where sample psychiatric reports from Dr. Klemes are also available for download.
